A hand-woven silk shawl, made in Burma. The warp is red silk and wefts of white, green, blue, red and black silk are used to produce figure. The designs are produced as in tapestry weaving, and conventional figuring includes fishes, turtles, lotus flower, birds, leaves, etc. Beautifully coloured birds are introduced, and gold and silver thread work adds to the ornament.
